Lydia Efobi
InternLydia Efobi, currently in her penultimate year of the Doctor of Pharmacy program at the University of Nigeria
Nsukka, is a committed advocate for mental health, youth empowerment, and accessible healthcare in Africa.
Her journey has been driven by a powerful vision for healthcare transformation, channeling her expertise into
initiatives that empower young people with mental resilience, preventive care, and essential health resources.
As an intern with PeCHIVReT, Lydia is dedicated to supporting young people affected by HIV/AIDS, focusing on
the mental health impacts of stigma and advancing solutions that empower and uplift. This role not only
enhances her understanding of public health challenges but allows her to contribute meaningfully to HIV/AIDS
advocacy.
Lydia is a current USAID YALI RLC West Africa Cohort 51 leader, a reflection of her capacity for impactful
leadership, equipping her to bring fresh and innovative approaches to health advocacy. Her influence spans
across collaborations with ISPOR-HEOR UNN, and UNICEF’s U-Reporter program, where she has promoted
preventive healthcare and worked to empower communities with critical health knowledge. As Editor-in-Chief II
of ISPOR-HEOR UNN, Lydia is furthering her commitment to making reliable health information accessible to
diverse audiences, fostering a culture of informed decision-making.
Beyond research and advocacy, Lydia has engaged directly with communities, co-organizing health campaigns
and youth empowerment programs. She also channels her passion for reading and mental resilience through
Tutorluchi, a book club she founded to encourage critical thinking and self-empowerment among young
Nigerians. Through Tutorluchi, Lydia has created a platform for young people to engage deeply with issues that
impact their lives, from mental health to social change.
With over a hundred book reviews to her name and numerous recommendations from global authors, Lydia’s
work bridges diverse perspectives, making her an inspiring voice for youth empowerment. Her journey
exemplifies the power of proactive, informed leadership, marking her as a formidable force for public health.
Lydia continues to seek opportunities for growth to enhance her capacity for driving positive change because she
sees herself as part of a new generation of leaders, committed to addressing today’s challenges and crafting a
brighter future for all.
