Igu Chioma Chikezie
InternI am Igu Chioma Chikezie ,a pharmacist and public health advocate from Nigeria, driven by a
passion for advancing global health, especially in low and middle income communities. Since
graduating from pharmacy school in 2021, I have dedicated myself to using my pharmaceutical
expertise to address pressing public health challenges. Alongside my work as a pharmacist, I
have also broadened my skills in monitoring and evaluation, epidemiology, and supply chain
management, all aligned with my commitment to health policy reforms and advocacy.
Currently,I am developing my knowledge in product management hoping towards envisioning
new ways to improve health outcomes in underserved areas. My dedication to bridging the gap
between people and quality healthcare is evident through my involvement in volunteer
organizations and my hands-on work as a community pharmacist.
Recently, I began an internship with the Person-Centered HIV Research Team (PeCHIVReT)
contributing to research on the safety and side effects of injectable antiretroviral therapy for
people living with HIV in a bid to improve medication compliance by reducing frequency of
dosing in PLWHIV.
I aspire to contribute to advancing research in epidemiology in the hopes of driving sustainable
progress in drug development, clinical trials, and post-marketing surveillance, particularly for
infectious diseases that heavily impact low-resource communities, such as malaria, tuberculosis,
and HIV/AIDS.
Through my advocacy, I aim to increase access to credible medical information, personalized
care, and safe, effective medications ultimately working to improve health outcomes in
underserved communities.
